Description

Description

Travertine is a beautiful and hard-wearing building material that has been used for construction purposes since the ancient times. For example, the famous Colosseum in Rome was built from travertine, along with various other materials. Due to the solidity of travertine, and the mixture of other building materials, the Colosseum is still standing to this day! Nowadays, travertine is popular for its durability, as well as its beauty. We supply magnificently crafted travertine tile options sourced and manufactured in Turkey.

Travertine is one of the most used natural minerals today, and is commonly used for external paving, façades decoration, wall cladding, and internal flooring. Travertine provides complete thermal insulation and soundproofing – making it the perfect stone tile option for indoor floors and walls; while its toughness makes it suitable for outdoor use and decoration. The colour of our travertine tile selection varies from white to deep brown.

Stone is a natural product, unlike synthetic materials. Each piece of natural stone is exclusive, unique and unrepeatable. Natural stone, by its very nature, has variations. Colour, texture, shading, pitting, fissures, and veining may vary from the samples supplied. These variations are characteristics of natural stone and are in no way to be taken as defects. Sealing of stone tiles is highly recommended to help minimise absorption and staining. We recommend all natural stone purchasers to inspect the stock at the warehouse prior to purchasing.

Do not use acids, detergents, or caustic cleaners to clean the stone as it may damage the surface of the natural stone permanently. pH neutral cleaners can be used for cleaning the tiles.

FAQs

1. Can I order a full size sample tiles?

Of course! Our team are ready to assist you in your sample selections. Please note that there will be extra freight cost’s involved due to weight of the tile. Please call us on (02) 9567 8971 or email sales@designtiles.com.au

2. How much grout should I order?

Please refer to the Mapei grout calculator here Tile grouts calculator | Mapei

3. How much wastage should I order?

Design Tiles always recommends ordering an additional 10-15% on top of your order to allow for wastage. For larger format tiles like 600x1200mm, 750x1500mm, 900x1800mm or larger please allow for 20% extra waste. Some rooms will require more cuts which generally means more wastage. Always confirm your quantities with your builder or tiler before proceeding with your order. Also, if you are purchasing tiles that are discontinued or on clearance its always worth buying extra as that tile, or batch of tiles may no longer be available from the manufacturer if you need to cover wastage.
