A Calm Loftus Project

Two restful bathrooms in Sydney's Sutherland Shire. Designed around a single green Zellige tile the homeowners brought in — and built out into a warm, restrained four-material palette.

Main bathroom — Norrock Ivory porcelain with a Zellige Natural feature wall, mint basin on a fluted timber vanity, and brushed brass tapware throughout.

The brief — and the anchor piece

The homeowners walked into the Design Tiles showroom with a soft green Zellige they'd already sourced and a clear vision: they wanted that tile to anchor their powder room, and they wanted Dianna to build the rest of the home's bathroom palette around it. The surrounding brief — a travertine-look softness, a premium feel, low-maintenance surfaces, and the green carried through.

What followed is one of Design Tiles' favourite kinds of design work: starting from a piece the customer has already fallen for, and letting it lead the way into a cohesive, layered material story.

The Powder Room

Customer's Green Zellige Norrock Ivory porcelain

The powder room is where the customer's anchor tile takes centre stage — vertical-stacked across the upper walls, the hand-glazed surface catching light unevenly. Below the dado, Norrock Ivory grounds the space in soft travertine warmth. A single marble wall sconce, a brushed brass towel ring, a white wall-hung basin: nothing competes with the green.

The Main Bathroom

Norrock Ivory porcelain Zellige Natural Botanica Kit Kat Soft Sage

In the main bathroom, the palette opens out. Norrock Ivory continues across the floor and lower walls, holding the family resemblance with the powder room. The Zellige Natural takes the main feature wall — vertical stack, soft off-white, handmade-look glaze. And in the shower, the green returns: not as the customer's exact tile, but as Botanica Kit Kat Soft Sage, a finer porcelain kit-kat in a related sage tone. A thread, not a repeat.
