Description
Limestone is a beautiful, natural rock composed mainly of seashells, skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as corals and molluscs, and other marine sediments. Depending on the region in which limestone was formed, its colour varies from soft whites and creams.
Limestone is the best example of a historic building material that is still recognised and popular today. This stone material was favoured by ancient Egyptians and was used as the main building material for the famous Great Pyramid in Giza, which is still standing today. This is a testament to the weathering resistance of this versatile, natural stone.
Stone is a natural product, unlike synthetic materials. Each piece of natural stone is exclusive, unique and unrepeatable. Natural stone, by its very nature, has variations. Colour, texture, shading, pitting, fissures, and veining may vary from the samples supplied. These variations are characteristics of natural stone and are in no way to be taken as defects. Sealing of stone tiles is highly recommended to help minimise absorption and staining. We recommend all natural stone purchasers to inspect the stock at the warehouse prior to purchasing.
Cleaning
Do not use acids, detergents, or caustic cleaners to clean the stone as it may damage the surface of the natural stone permanently. pH neutral cleaners can be used for cleaning the tiles.
