Every home has a story, and Paloma House is no exception. What began as a cozy 1940s shack in a quiet cul-de-sac in Peakhurst has been beautifully transformed into a modern family home, full of character and warmth. Design Tiles is thrilled to have played a part in this journey, working alongside Cub Group, specialists in custom residential homes, renovations, and commercial fit-outs, to bring this dream to life.

Setting the Vision: From Concept to Completion

The creative process began with mood boards, capturing the essence of what this home could become—a blend of elegance and functionality. These visual inspirations were the starting point that helped shape the final selection of materials and finishes. Design Tiles curated a collection that balanced the homeowners’ aesthetic aspirations with the practical needs of a family home.

Kitchen Masterpiece: Arabescato Viola and Bamboo Flute Mosaic

A standout feature of Paloma House is the kitchen, where Arabescato Viola Megaslab porcelain panels (3200x1600x12mm) were chosen for the benchtop and splashback. Known for their luxurious Italian quality, these panels showcase a rich palette of deep purples with intricate white veining that instantly elevates the kitchen’s atmosphere. More than just beautiful, Arabescato Viola is highly durable, with properties that make it hygienic, easy to clean, and resistant to UV, frost, scratches, and heat—ideal for high-use areas.

For a unique contrast, the Mini Bamboo Utica Flute Mosaic was used to accent the kitchen island. With natural variations in color and texture, these bamboo-inspired flutes bring a warm, organic feel to the space. Bamboo flutes have become increasingly popular for their ability to add texture and a touch of nature indoors, making this mosaic the perfect complement to the striking Arabescato slabs. 

Elegant Bathroom Retreats

In the bathroom, the Rice Natural series in 50x150mm and 150x150mm porcelain tiles was selected, offering a Japanese-inspired design with a glossy, irregular surface that resembles handmade tiles. Made in Italy, these tiles create a soothing, spa-like ambiance with an artisanal touch that feels both delicate and sophisticated. With edges designed for a seamless installation, they allow for unique patterns that add an extra layer of personalization. 

For the floors, the Norrock porcelain Tile in Ivory was chosen. Inspired by Ceppo di Gre, this tile features a blend of pebble-like fragments that create depth and add timeless elegance. The neutral tones bring harmony to the bathroom, balancing out the brighter, reflective surfaces and creating a serene environment.

In the ensuite, the Antique Gloss Soft White Kit Kat Mosaic Finger Tile adds character and texture. These elongated, glossy tiles in soft white offer a refined take on the Kit Kat tile trend, creating sleek, linear visuals that make the space feel fresh and modern. 

Inviting Outdoor Spaces: Classic Ivory Crazy Pave

For the outdoor and pool areas, Classic Ivory Crazy Pave was the natural choice. This beautiful, versatile stone features varied shapes and sizes, adding an organic and playful look to the outdoor space. Perfect for creating winding garden paths, defining a poolside area, or adding a focal point in a courtyard, the Ivory Crazy Pave’s flexibility in design brings a natural yet sophisticated charm to any exterior setting. Its warm tones blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, enhancing the home’s overall aesthetic.
